Kate Payne, Senior Consultant

Kate Payne has advised leaders building businesses for more than a decade - both as a handpicked insider and as an outside consultant. Her gift for crafting simple, elegant solutions to seemingly intractable people problems makes her a trusted resource to clients and colleagues alike.

Kate's approach emphasizes results through relationships, supporting executives to balance action with listening and operational tactics with clear strategies. She is a coach to individual leaders, as well as their partner in strengthening people-related systems in their organization. An expert group facilitator, Kate also frequently serves as a resource to groups needing to plan, make a change or learn together successfully.

Her academic credentials, including a masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, are complemented by her broad practical experience on the people side of organizations, including talent management, leadership development, executive coaching, curriculum design, group facilitation and M&A-related culture integration - work she has done for start-ups, family-run businesses and global conglomerates. She brings all these experiences to bear in serving our clients, as well as her own clarity and fluency in helping people work together toward common goals.

Before joining Proteus, Kate was responsible for leadership development and performance management at The Children's Place and Disney Stores in North America. As Fast Company magazine's first Talent Director, she quickly became the go-to person for all things "people" as the business dealt with unprecedented growth and change. Kate has also worked internationally as a consultant with Accenture and The Exetor Group.

Kate's consulting work with corporate clients includes Exxon Mobil, McKinsey Consulting, Nortel Networks, Hill and Knowlton, Ingersoll Rand and Pfizer.
