Cathie Zimmerman, Director of Finance
Cathie Zimmerman joined Proteus International as Director of Finance in August 2010. Cathie has a strong background and experience in financial leadership roles, and has worked for both domestic and international companies. Throughout Cathie’s professional career, she has developed a variety of budgeting and forecasting models that have become essential tools for business strategy and analysis. Cathie has actively engaged in business operations, taking initiative to review, identify, and develop recommendations for, as well as assist in implementation of process improvements. In her financial leadership roles, Cathie has built relationships that establish finance departments as proactive partners, offering meaningful financial information to a variety of audiences. With a goal of growing the businesses she serves, Cathie has worked to provide reporting and metrics that clarify the organization’s strengths and weaknesses; identifying profitable areas of the business, analyzing variances, identifying cost efficiencies, and recommending the re-allocation of resources. Cathie has also worked in compliance and risk-management, to assure compliance with company management and accounting policies.
In her role at Proteus, Cathie provides financial leadership for the organization, and ensures that finance is a solid resource for all departments. She has created budgeting and forecasting models to help identify opportunities to drive revenue, reduce expenses, and create efficiencies through process improvements. Working with Proteus leadership, Cathie helps establish and track realistic sales goals and creates and maintains strong relationships with all client financial contacts.
Cathie comes most recently from a large global agrichemical company, where she had responsibility for consolidation and financial reporting for North America. Prior to that, Cathie served as Division Controller in a large publishing company, acting as a financial and strategic partner for publishing teams throughout the United States. Cathie also spent ten years in the financial securities industry where she was a licensed, registered principal. Cathie lives in Minneapolis with her husband and two teenage sons.
