Performance Management Systems

What: A collaborative approach to create a structure for managing employee performance toward fulfilling the organization's goals. We begin by helping clients identify key characteristics or abilities needed by every person in the organization--then design a system of performance review and development based on these competencies and clearly defined performance goals. Once the system has been built, we help design the performance conversation between manager and employee. Finally, both managers and employees are supported with the skills training they need to benefit from the new system.

Why: Clients use these systems--and the collaborative approach used to construct them--to create accountability for the behaviors and results that will help the organization achieve its goals. Performance management systems also provide mechanisms for pinpointing critical areas for each employee's growth, assuring that development time and dollars are invested wisely. Finally, effective performance management reduces turnover and improves morale by assuring that employees receive balanced, timely, behavioral feedback about their performance.

Who: A well-defined and functional performance management system can help any organization ensure that employees are working toward the results that matter most, and that they are developing professionally in ways that will most benefit the organization.
